Celebrity of the Year Finalist #4: The Jersey Shore Cast!
With 2010 drawing to a close, it is with much pride that THG unveils its 10 finalists for its prestigious, Fourth Annual Celebrity of the Year award.These stars all gave us their best, their worst, their nude pics (sometimes) and their scandals (often). This month, THG honors that greatness.
After the Kardashians kame in at #5, we present an even more useless group as our Celebrity of the Year finalist #4 ... the Jersey Shore cast!
Love 'em or hate 'em, they left their mark in 2010.
We know. They are idiots. You can spare the "what a bunch of losers with no future and bad values" bit, because we f*%king know. Maybe that's the appeal.You can argue how undeserving they are of fame and fortune all day long, and you won't be wrong. But doesn't that apply to many "celebrities" nowadays?
In terms of raw impact on popular culture, few have had the impact of this gang of guidos and guidettes, who rose from obscurity to household names.
Say what you will about this talentless, attention-starved crew - and, Lord knows, we will until they finally go away - but Jersey Shore's success can't be denied.
Like the Kardashians, Snooki, JWoww and The Situation embody the celebrity gossip culture of the 2000s. And to top it off, they can actually be pretty funny.More Jersey Shore quotes have become part of the lexicon this year than we can even count (or like to admit). Snooki was the year's top Halloween costume.
You may hate them, but it's a love-to-hate kind of hate.
At least to some degree, they are in on the joke at this point. They are getting paid to party and sleep around, which they would do anyway, and loving life.
Hilarious, depressing and astounding at the same time, five million people tune in to watch their over-the-top antics because, deep down, we can all relate.
Maybe not to cat fights, stints behind bars or the constant threat of STDs, but to crashing with our friends, cracking jokes, and living it up as young adults.
With a new season kicking off next month (check out the Season 3 trailer), here's a tribute to some of the year's top moments provided by these characters:
Lindsay Lohan's Rehab Run-In Update
As the story continues to unfold, it is now being reported that Lindsay Lohan is claiming a female staffer at the Betty Ford Clinic used physical force against her.According to sources, the “Labor Pains” actress’ father, Michael, told that his daughter was “10 minutes late for her curfew” and a female technician “grabbed her” and “got forceful,” to which Linds responded, “Don’t put your hands on me!” and physically brushed her off.
Furthermore, Michael said the tech wanted Lindsay and her two roommates to take a drug test.
All three were screened for drugs and alcohol and “all tested negative,” Michael revealed to press.
Bret Michaels and Kristi Gibson: On Cloud Nine
Having fought through deadly medical issues of the past year, Bret Michaels is on cloud nine to be healthy and ready to walk down the aisle with fiance Kristi Gibson.Having proposed on the season finale of his VH1 show on Monday night, the former Poison frontman told People magazine, "They swore I was the guy who would never... And it feels awesome."
The 47-year-old musician was first expected to ask for his lady's hand in marriage the previous night during their 16th anniversary dinner at Mastro's, but decided otherwise.
Bret dished, "I wasn't ready there because I felt really strange. It would've been like, I'm in the middle of proposing and oh, by the way, there's a Cobb salad."
Also overjoyed is the bride-to-be, Miss Gibson, as she told People, "I love him for him. I've been through everything with him. A ring and a paper wouldn't make me love him more. I'm just happy he's alive."
The soon-to-be 40-year-old added, "But this is the best birthday and Christmas present ever. We'll be virgins stepping into the whole engagement and marriage thing. And with our girls growing up, we'll all have the same last name."

Lindsay Lohan moved to an undisclosed location after fight at Betty Ford Center
Update: Lindsay Lohan could end up spending six months in jail over her recent physical altercation with a staffer at the Betty Ford Clinic, TMZ has learned. We couldn't let 2010 end without a good Lindsay Lohan story. The last one we reported was that the role of Linda Lovelace would not be in the stars for Lilo.
Now Radar Online is reporting that Lindsay Lohan has been moved to an undisclosed area after a fight with rehab staffer at the Betty Ford Center.
According to the celebrity gossip site, "The staffer reprimanded the star after she returned late to the center one night. Lindsay was confronted by a technician after returning 10 minutes late. She was forced to undergo and drug and alcohol test, which she passed, but that was not the end of the matter."
According to Radar Online's source, the clash was a big deal: "Lindsay was moved to another location to remove her from a potentially hostile environment."
Have a great 2011, Lindsay.

We can't choose just one sibling, after all. By having babies, constantly talking about their weight and placing their name on any product, Khloe, Kourtney and Kim all made headline after headline in 2010.
Heck, youngsters Kylie and Kendall Jenner even got in on the act.
Say what you will about this talentless, attention-starved family - and, Lord knows, THG often does! - but the success and the popularity of the Kardashians cannot be denied.
Kardashian Konfiential hit number-four on The New York Times Bestsellers' list in its first week of release; the sisters have close to 10 million Twitter followers; and, get this, Kris Jenner herself has 504,157 people reading her Tweets at last check.
In related news, there are 504,157 people on the planet that really need to get a life.
And therein lies the mystery and appeal of the Kardashians. They epitomize the celebrity gossip culture of the 2000s. Paris Hilton started it and then Speidi milked it like crazy for a few months.
But only Kim, Khloe and kompany have managed to remain major names - hosting Las Vegas parties, appearing on late-night talk shows, writing books, posing naked A LOT - without actually accomplishing a single noteworthy item.
No Kardashian recorded an album, starred in a movie, headlined a non-reality show, went on tour or earned a single, respectable award in 2010. Yet major publications created articles out of mere blog posts made by these siblings. Kim earned over $6 million on her own in the last 12 months.
It's both depressing and astounding, and it's all enough to warrant the entertainment world's most shameless family a spot in our year-end countdown. Or, for one time only, we should say: kountdown.

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry React To ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Repeal

The armed forces’ controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy will soon be history.
On Saturday (December 18), the Senate voted to repeal the 17-year-old measure that bars openly gay men and women from serving in the military. The bill passed by a 65-31 margin, according to CNN, which included eight republicans and one independent who joined the Democrat-backed initiative. President Obama will sign the bill into law next week.
“Today, the Senate has taken an historic step toward ending a policy that undermines our national security while violating the very ideals that our brave men and women in uniform risk their lives to defend. By ending ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ no longer will our nation be denied the service of thousands of patriotic Americans forced to leave the military, despite years of exemplary performance, because they happen to be gay. And no longer will many thousands more be asked to live a lie in order to serve the country they love,” the president said in a statement.
Calls to dismantle the policy ramped up this year with stars such as Lady Gaga decrying the measure and demonstrations cropping up around the nation. On Wednesday, the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who had been crusading to end the policy, tweeted to Gaga after the vote, “We did it! #DADT is a thing of the past.”
Gaga, who arrived at the 2010 MTV VMAs with openly gay service members who had been discharged or left the military due to the policy, made viral videos and spoke at a September rally calling for the end of DADT, tweeted about her emotional reaction to the vote.
“Can’t hold back the tears+pride. We did it!i Our voice was heard + today the Senate REPEALED DADT. A triumph for equality after 17 YEARS,” she wrote.
Openly gay talk-show queen Ellen DeGeneres tweeted, “Thank you Senators for pushing us one step closer towards full equality.”
Katy Perry showed her support for the repeal of DADT by responding to a missive that fellow songstress Pink retweeted.
“SUPPORTING ALL OUR TROOPS!” Perry added to Pink’s retweet, “RT @Pink: Congrats 2 US!!! REPEAL of DADT & 17 years of allowing Human Rights Violations. There’s hope after all!”
Former army lieutenant and gay-rights activist Dan Choi, who has called for an end to the policy since he was discharged from service after publicly coming out in 2009, also gave his take on the vote.
“Thank you, Democrats, for your leadership,” he tweeted. “There: I said it. Also, thank you 8 Republicans. You’re on the right side of history.”
MTV News also caught up with student Bridget Todd, who once questioned President Obama about DADT during the commander-in-chief’s “A Conversation with President Obama” forum in October. Although Todd said she was skeptical of the president’s commitment to ending the policy after the Obama administration asked for stay blocking a judge’s ruling that the measure is unconstitutional, she said the Senate vote has restored some of her faith in the U.S. leader.
“I think it’s fantastic. I’m over the moon about it,” Todd said. “It’s sort of strange that it’s 2010 and we’re dealing with this so I’m happy that it’s done, I’m happy that it’s gonna be over with.
“I think I said that he displayed an alleged commitment to gay equality,” she continued. “I think that this sort of proves that perhaps he is actually committed to these issues. They’re not just sort of political talking points that you use to get elected — that this is something that he is willing to make happen.”

Brandi Glanville, Actor Eddie Cibrian's Ex-Wife, Charged with DUI
NEW YORK (CBS) Actor Eddie Cibrian's ex-wife, Brandi Glanville, was charged with two misdemeanors Friday stemming from an October DUI arrest in Los Angeles, according to celebrity gossip site TMZ.
Glanville, who divorced Cibrian after his extramarital affair with country music star LeAnn Rimes, was reportedly pulled over for a traffic violation on Sunset Boulevard Oct. 29 and then arrested after she failed a field sobriety test, reports US Magazine.
According to the L.A. County District Attorney, the model/makeup artist is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and driving with a blood alcohol level above 0.08%, states TMZ.
"I messed up. I take full responsibility for my actions," she tweeted following the incident. "I regret my bad choice, and am thankful to God that no one got hurt. I'm sorry."
If convicted, Glanville could spend up to six months in jail and face a $1,000 fine

Christina Aguilera has removed any doubt as to the authenticity of those pictures that leaked of her yesterday where she’s mostly naked and all bruised up like one of Chris Brown’s girlfriends. Alesha Dixon accuses Cowell of cashing in
Crikey, Wagner's only just left the building and up steps Alesha Dixon to accuse Simon Cowell of cashing in on the bonkers Brazilian.In an interview with Metro, Alesha suggested in no uncertain terms that Simon was "manipulating" the public (as if).
"Simon plays a very clever game because no matter what happens, he still wins," she scoffed.
Yeah... but that's what happens when you rule reality talent TV, Alesha.
The Strictly judge went on: "He'll make money from Wagner, he'll make money from Jedward, so he doesn't really care.

Peter Andre told to rest after emergency op
Peter Andre has been ordered to rest by doctors after his emergency operation.The Aussie, who was taken to hospital on Friday with "excruciating" stomach pains, endured an emergency operation but insisted on performing in Somerset on Sunday night.
Though he was unable to dance, Pete had been "terribly disappointed" to miss the opening night of his tour and was determined to take to the stage at Butlins.
Tweeting fans described his performance as "amazing" despite his ill health.
But he has been forced to postpone tonight's concert in Ipswich.
An announcement on his website said: "Doctors have advised him to rest for an additional 24 hours, following on from his operation."
The Ipswich gig has now been re-scheduled for December 9.
McKeith clashes with Ryder on challenge
Gillian McKeith has clashed with Shaun Ryder on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.The pair embarked on a Celebrity Chest challenge, where they had to enter a freezing pool to find the correct keys to release the chest. However, McKeith's fear of water appeared to irritate the Happy Mondays singer.
As they completed the task, Ryder told her: "Shut up, don't irritate me again please. You're a f**king irritating woman - that's why I speak to you like that. You say nasty things all the time, your tone - everything. The way you speak to everyone."
They managed to release the chest, but McKeith told Ryder to leave as they continued to row.
Speaking afterwards, he said: "I try not to lose my temper, and I did, and my mouth was horrible. I'll probably get a smack in the nose for it from my dad but she would try the patience of a saint."
He continued: "She's just rude and she's said some rude things to the girls. It's alright for her to say things, put people down or talk to them like s**t, which she does. Yet you give it to her and she can't take it."
McKeith said: "I don't understand him at all. I don't think I've ever met someone like him ever in my life."
Lembit Opik ('I'm A Celebrity')
After 14 days in the jungle, Lembit Opik was the second person evicted from I’m A Celebrity. The former Liberal Democrat MP followed Sheryl Gascoigne out of the squalid camp after polling the fewest viewer votes on Friday night’s show. We caught up with Lembit in Australia to find out about his jungle experience…How does it feel to be out of the jungle, Lembit?
“I’m free at last! I’m so happy to be out of the jungle. I’m A Celebrity was a wonderful experience and I’m going to miss my camp mates, but I know I’ll see them all again in a few days.”
Are you pleased with your jungle experience?
“The show exceeded my expectations in a very good way. Firstly, I know that I can survive the jungle. Secondly, I’ve found that in relative hardship you can learn a lot about yourself. Thirdly, I’ve never been bitten by a snake before - and that was an incredibly bizarre experience.”
What did you learn you learn about yourself in the jungle?
“The one thing I’ve discovered about jungle wildlife is that I am afraid of snakes. I got bitten twice in the jungle and the scars are still on my hand. It was horrible. I thought the snake was a rubber mat when I first put my hand in the box. However, after collecting four stars, I realised it was a snake - and that’s when it bit me. I couldn’t believe a snake had bit me. But I also couldn’t believe that I went and put my hand in again to get the remaining star.”
Did you want to leave?
“Of course I didn’t. I wanted to stay in there. I could’ve easily done this experience for a few more days because I was learning so much about myself. It’s a completely clear environment in the jungle with no emails, no meetings and no telephones. I didn’t want that the experience to end.”
What else did you learn in the jungle?
“If you go into the show in good faith, you can learn so much. Firstly, I learned about how little you need to survive. You don’t need luxuries. Secondly, I learned what it’s like to live with a team under pressure.’”
What do you think about Gillian?
“Gillian has had an incredible journey. She was basically phobic about insects, confined spaces and creepy crawlies. In other words, everything that this show is about! I kept telling her that insects are our friends and eventually she really tried to conquer it. In my view, she has been an absolute star. She has shown that if you do focus on your fears then you can overcome them. Respect to her.”
Who do you think will win the show?
“Linny (Linford Christie) could go all the way and I really hope he does. I’d like to see Shaun [Ryder] go far, too. With Shaun, what you see is what you get. He’s very down to earth and he’s a great bloke. And Linny is like a blood brother to me. He always helps people feel better when they come back with few stars. He would’ve given Aggro [Santos] a big hug in the camp when he came back with three stars.”
Why did you sign up for the jungle?
“It was pure curiosity. I thought it would be an adventure and I wanted to know how I would act when undernourished, over-tired and under pressure.”
Politicians tend to get a rough ride from the public on I’m A Celebrity. Did that worry you at the start of your jungle journey?
“At the moment, my main income is through journalism. However, I’m still involved in politics and I want to stand for the Mayor of London. I supposed I’m used to the rough and tumble of politics and I’m used to rough rides. There’s no rougher ride than losing your seat, which is what happened to me. In a way, the show was an election because the public has a vote. If the public chose to give me a rough ride, then I knew the rules and I just had to do my best.”
Were you under the illusion that the producers might slip you a piece of pizza on the sly if you went hungry in the jungle?
“I had no illusions about the challenges on the show. Begging for a bit of pizza wasn’t going to cut it with the production crew. If you c*ck up a Bushtucker Trial, you end up with nothing and I don’t think pleading is going to help matters. That’s fair enough. What kind of an exercise would it be if a little whinging gets you spoiled?”
Did you tell Nick Clegg that you were going to take part in the show?
“Like everybody else in Britain, I think everyone had a pretty good idea that I was joining the show, but I didn’t have a specific conversation with him about it before I went into the jungle. I don’t know what his view on the show is, but feel free to ask him. I think he’ll probably regard this as a colourful contribution to the profile of the Liberal Democrats.”
You’re not the first Liberal Democrat to do the show…
“No, I’m not. Brian Paddick is a former mayoral candidate for the Liberal Democrats. He has done the show before and he’s been well received in the party. I hoped it would be a similarly positive experience for me, too.”

According to The New York Post Vladimir Putin sat down with the Hollywood actor and noted green celebrity Leonardo DiCaprio after his International Tiger Conservation Forum. The entertainment journals who covered the story say Putin complemented the Hollywood movie legend for making the long trip to Russia despite delays in his travel that may have caused any other star celebs to turn back and he noted the star’s commitment to the environment.
Celebrity gossip sources noted that Leo’s plane suffered frightening engine problems during the first leg of his flight. They claim the plane also had possible mechanical troubles again that have not been substantiated, but sources seems to confirm thatDiCaprio had an unplanned stopover in Finland due to turbulence when high winds made flying an unsafe and even more unsettling proposition.
“Not everyone would be willing to take a plane again after what Mr. DiCaprio experienced, but he did,” Putin confessed in a private press briefing. “Here in Russia we call such a person a ‘real man.’ If Wildlife and tiger conservation is in the hands of people with such character, we are destined to succeed.”

Nicki Minaj and Lil' Kim's war of words has risen another notch. On Friday (November 26), Kim released "Black Friday," her response to Minaj's interview on New York's Hot 97 radio station."It'll be a murder scene, I'm turning Pink Friday to 'Friday the 13th,' " spits Kim over Pharoahe Monch's "Simon Says" beat. After leaving the jungle, Sheryl told Ant & Dec all about her experience in the camp, stating: "It wasn't that bad. There's only so much damp and darkness and rain and wet towels you can take, [but] I am pleased [to be out]."
Sheryl, who is tipping Stacey to be crowned Queen of the jungle, added: "The last three or four days with the rain and the prison experience wasn't good, but yeah, I enjoyed it."
Gascoigne also claimed that she had no idea why TV nutritionist McKeith decided to take part in the show, following the 51-year old's collapse after repeatedly being voted to complete the grim bushtucker trials.
Sheryl stated: "I really don't believe she knew what she was getting into. She said she'd never seen the show. She was absolutely so mad about being covered in bugs."
"Everyone else would have gone along and got on with it, but it's entertaining to watch her... She has a huge phobia of it all. I don't know why she came on this show."

Celebrity Gossip are shocked to report that Twilight actor Bronson Pelletier who played werewolf tribe member Jared has been attacked after attending a convention in Birmingham.
The 24-year-old Twilight actor was left shocked after he was attacked which left him with a broken nose. According to reports the actor was head butted and put into a headlock by a number of drunken men at the Twilight event.
According t The Daily Telegraph a source told them: "Bronson was really angry and upset... These guys were very nasty. They were so drunk they probably didn't even realise they were picking on a Hollywood actor.
"The convention was full of teenage girls and geeks desperate to see their Twilight heroes so no one expected this sort of trouble."
Police have released a statement saying that the four attackers were attending a wedding reception in the same hotel where the conference was being held and were chased by police offers where one of the attackers was restrained by a Taser Gun.
All four of the attackers were arrested on suspicion of assault but two were later freed without charge while two others were given bail while further investigations took place.

Lil Kim doesn’t seem to want to play nice with her rap rival Nicki Minaj, now calling Minaj a fraud that slept her way to the top!
Lil Kim doesn’t appear to want to end her public feud with newcomer Nicki Minaj and takes aim at her in her new song.

Colt Brennan, Colt Brennan was transported to Oahu, where we arrived about 16 hours, and was transferred to Queen’s Hospital.
Speaking to a television station in Honolulu, Brennan’s father, Terry, said he had spoken to doctors.
Terry Brennan said his son had suffered head trauma, several broken ribs and a broken left collarbone and is in stable condition. Family members are expected on Saturday morning from California.
Waikoloa woman, who was not identified, was also transported to The Queen’s Medical Center by air ambulance.
Stream, Brennan’s girlfriend, is reported in serious condition at Kona Community Hospital.
Big Island police have confirmed that former University of Hawaii Colt Brennan watch was among three people injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday morning on the highway near the Queen Kaahumanu Makalawaena.
Brennan Ryan Tollner officer issued the following statement:
“We were informed that Colt was injured by a passenger in a car accident this morning on the Big Island of Hawaii. He was transported to Kona Community Hospital and has since been transported to Honolulu for additional medical care. We do not know the seriousness of his injuries at this point, but that his condition is serious. We are not aware of the status of any other person involved in the accident, but our thoughts and prayers are with them. No details of the accident have been revealed to us. Colt family requests that the public is respectful of hospitals and medical personnel focused on the treatment of people involved in this accident. ”
Brennan was apparently visiting the Big Island after being released by the Oakland Raiders. Last month, he had a workout with exploratory Houston Texans.
After a football career record at UH, Brennan was drafted in the sixth round by the Washington Redskins in 2008 the National Football League draft.
After undergoing four surgeries, he was released by the Redskins before the start of training camp this summer.
According to firefighters, crews arrived to find the SUV on its side. Stream was able to exit the vehicle, Brennan could not get out of his own, he had not fallen, but it had to be extricated. Both were transported to Kona Community Hospital.

The driver of the Saab sedan, a 47 year old woman Waikoloa, was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital in serious condition.
The road was temporarily closed and reopened around 11:15.
Police have opened two investigations negligent injury. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation and it is undetermined at this time if speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
The police ask that anyone who had witnessed the accident to contact Officer Paula Jelsma at 326-4646, ext 253.
